Health Worker Trainings begin tomorrow!

With the last arrivals yesterday of Jason, Jess M. and Tanya, the entire group is finally together in Iquitos. We have had the four second year medical students from University of Colorado (Jess B, Igor, Natalia and Alia), who along with our advisor Dr. Dick Anstett have done an incredible amount of ground work preparing things and arranging logistics for the trainings this weekend. They were joined a week ago by our three PA students (Beth H., Beth P. and Sonya), who have added great energy and manpower to the group. In the past few days, they have been joined 3rd year pharmacy student Shelby Kemper, 4th year medical students Tin, Blair, Jason and Jess M., and 2nd year medical student from Drexel Tanya.

We have all been running around buying supplies, talking to govenment officials and collaborators, and arranging for the transportation, lodging, supplies, food, etc. for this weekend's trainings in Mazan and Llachapa. We've received wonderful help from our friends from CONAPAC (Ricardo and Alberto), Nativa Apartments (Monica) and other amazing locals.

Today we are making last minute arrangements and running through our curriculum one last time so we're ready for tomorrow, when we leave early on rapidos to our respective training sites 1 (Mazan) to 3 (Llachapa) hours from Iquitos. There will be little cell coverage, internet or other forms of communication, so we will update you all about the trainings when we return to Iquitos on Sunday.
